The timber we use comes from the heart of the cedar trunk, to minimise the number of knots. This beautiful wood has proven to provide the best possible combination of natural resistance to decay and a high insulating value to keep the water warm in the hot tub.

When using your Størvatt wood fired hot tub you will find in addition that red cedar has an indescribable natural perfume with a calming aroma. Red cedar also keeps its condition, without requiring any painting or other treatment. With time, the red cedar wood will take on a natural and authentic light grey colour.

The Størvatt wood fired hot tub design

Built in the original cooper’s tradition, a Størvatt wood fired hot tub is classically simple. A sophisticated milling and cutting process results in a product that is easy to assemble (in approx. 4 hours) and which will provide you with years and years of enjoyment.

wood fired hot tubsThe base boards are individually selected, matched, numbered and hand dowelled together. Each base is then milled, sanded and finished by hand. This produces a stable base which is almost completely pre-assembled. Before shipping, the base is separated into two halves again for easier transportation.

All the staves (side planks of a Størvatt wood fired hot tub) are also processed with modern milling machinery and carefully finished. A large notch in every stave allows them to fit exactly onto the base. The notches are hollowed out so that the staves enclose the round edge of the base and thus fit exactly onto the edge of the base. The side of each stave is milled with a ball & matching socket so that they fit snugly during and after assembly and keep their beautiful round shape. The socket joint makes the assembly a lot easier, ensures a waterproof connection and gives the tub a classic look once the stainless steel rings are tightened. The red cedar wood used for the staves and the base is almost 4 cm thick. This is also why a Størvatt outdoor hot tub is incredibly stable and completely waterproof.
